GeneSegues Awarded Patent for Drug Nanoencapsulation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 14, 2003

Minneapolis, Minnesota - GeneSegues, Inc. announced it has been awarded U.S. Patent no. 6632671 for its drug nanoencapsulation technology. The technology condenses and encapsulates DNA and RNA-based drugs in carriers less than 50 nanometers in diameter, the equivalent of 2-millionths of one inch. By condensing the drug and constructing its carrier with targeting proteins, the Company is able to deliver large-molecule drugs intact to the specific tissues and cells needing therapeutic treatment.

GeneSegues has similar patents pending in Europe, Japan, and other countries. The Company currently is using the benefits of this delivery technology to develop therapeutics for solid-tumor cancers.

GeneSegues, Inc. is a privately held biopharmaceutical company based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Founded in 1999, the Company’s focus is to develop biopharmaceuticals using advanced delivery technology.
